Strong Turnout for Irish Funds’ First Future Leaders Event of 2026

Irish Funds’ first Future Leaders event of 2026 drew a strong turnout yesterday evening, highlighting the continued demand for spaces where emerging professionals can connect, learn and share perspectives.

Delivered in collaboration with the Irish Debt Securities Association (IDSA), the event welcomed more than 160 registered attendees, reflecting the growing momentum behind the Future Leaders initiative and its role in supporting the next generation of industry leaders.

The evening opened with a warm welcome from Feargal Brennan, Byrne Wallace Shields, followed by introductions from Mina Dawood, Future Leader Member at Byrne Wallace Shields, who set the scene for an engaging and thought-provoking discussion.

The core of the event featured a fireside chat with Pat Lardner, CEO of Irish Funds, and Gary Palmer, CEO of IDSA. Moderated by Philip McCaugherty, CSC, and Niamh Murphy, Apex, the discussion offered candid cross-industry insights into leadership, collaboration and the evolving priorities shaping the financial services landscape.

Key themes included career progression, effective communication and the importance of strong industry engagement, all of which resonated strongly with the Future Leaders audience.

Closing remarks from David Naughton reinforced the value of bringing this cohort together to foster synergies, build meaningful relationships and develop networks that will help shape the future of Ireland’s funds and asset management industry.

The event concluded with a drinks reception, providing attendees with the opportunity to continue conversations and build new connections.

We would like to thank Byrne Wallace Shields and Apex Group Ltd for sponsoring the event, and all speakers and attendees for contributing to such an energetic and successful evening.

The momentum behind the Future Leaders initiative continues to grow, and this event served as a strong reminder of the role these gatherings play in developing skills, confidence and long-term professional connections.

This initiative is invite-only, and Member firms are encouraged to nominate a future leader to participate and, in doing so, will receive early notification of upcoming Future Leaders events.
