Strengthening Regional Links: Irish Funds Engages in Discussions on Growth and Innovation in Limerick
Monday, 20 October 2025
Irish Funds visited Limerick last week for a day of collaboration and discussion, hosted by Northern Trust, bringing together business leaders, policymakers, and educators from across the region. The day highlighted the importance of partnership in driving regional development and showcased the vital role of the funds and asset management industry in communities across Ireland.
With 46% of funds and asset management professionals now based outside Dublin, the day reflected the growing strength of Ireland’s regional financial services network and the energy of students, professionals, and local leaders in Limerick.
The day began with a meeting of the Irish Funds Members’ Council — the elected representative body for over 150 member firms — ensuring that the voices of all members are heard and represented in shaping the direction of the industry.
A Transition Year Financial Literacy Programme session with students from Limerick Educate Together Secondary School followed, reinforcing Irish Funds’ ongoing commitment to supporting the National Financial Literacy Strategy and promoting financial awareness among young people.
CEO Pat Lardner also joined Limerick Live 95 Radio to discuss financial literacy, the TY Programme, and Ireland’s need to stay competitive as a global financial hub.
An Irish Funds Members Lunch & Learn with Northern Trust provided an opportunity to explore new avenues for collaboration. Later sessions featured contributions from representatives of the University of Limerick, Technological University of the Shannon, Mary Immaculate College, Munster Technological University, Limerick City and County Council, Limerick Chamber of Commerce, PwC, and IDA Ireland, among other regional stakeholders.
The afternoon featured a panel discussion on “Competitiveness and Investment: Opportunities and Challenges for Ireland through the Lens of Limerick and the Mid-West Region”, exploring how the region can continue to attract investment and foster innovation.
The day concluded with a networking reception, celebrating strong connections, shared vision, and the ongoing growth of Ireland’s regional financial ecosystem.
Irish Funds extends sincere thanks to all participants, speakers, and to Northern Trust for hosting an engaging and inspiring day dedicated to partnership, education, and regional growth.
