Key Takeaways from the Green Team Network Corporate Decarbonisation Roundtable

As part of European Sustainable Development Week 2023 and Ireland’s Sustainable Development Goals Week 2023, the Green Team Network held a corporate decarbonisation round table yesterday for firms that have taken the Green Pledge.

The round table was an opportunity for participants to learn about what emission reduction practices other funds industry firms are implementing, particularly around business travel, employee commuting and sustainable procurement. It was an enthusiastic discussion but also with a frank acknowledgement of the challenges.

Three key takeaways from the round table were:

• The importance of data – capturing data is key, as otherwise it is very difficult to know what your baseline is. For example - central travel booking systems.

• The need to set targets and review and measure these targets – and consider the best ways to meet them – for example - rewards, penalties, offsets.

• Better planning and organisation – for example - consolidation of meetings requiring business travel to cut unnecessary flights.
