Irish Funds Welcomes the New Ireland for Finance Strategy

Irish Funds welcomes the publication of the Government's renewed Ireland for Finance Strategy, Vision 2030 – Renewed and Refocussed for a Digital Age, and its strong focus on delivery, competitiveness and innovation.

The strategy recognises funds and asset management as a high-impact sector and highlights key areas of growth, including ETFs, private assets and tokenisation. Irish Funds particularly welcomed the commitment to progress the legislative changes needed to support tokenised funds in Ireland, describing it as an important step towards enabling digital finance and strengthening Ireland's international competitiveness.

We note the importance of delivering key reforms, including amendments to the ICAV and Companies Acts to facilitate fund tokenisation, as well as legislation to modernise the 1907 Limited Partnership Act to support the continued growth of private assets.

Irish Funds also welcomes the strategy's focus on governance, accountability and measurable outcomes, recognising the need for policy development to keep pace with the evolving financial services sector.

The strategy will also be considered alongside the forthcoming roadmap on the taxation of savings in Ireland. We believe that removing barriers to investment, including deemed disposal rules, together with the introduction of Savings and Investment Accounts, could encourage greater participation in capital markets and deliver better outcomes for long-term savers.

Welcoming the strategy overall, Irish Funds said the priority now is implementation, ensuring that the commitments outlined are delivered to support innovation, strengthen competitiveness and benefit both the international financial services sector and domestic savers.
