Irish Funds Welcomes Publication of Funds Sector 2030 Report by Department of Finance

Irish Funds welcomes the publication of the Funds Sector 2030 Report which reflects the importance of our industry to the Irish economy and which supports employment right across the country. We are very grateful to our members and working groups for their engagement and input to our submission. We are pleased to see that many of the recommendations contained within the final report align with those contained in the detailed submission made by Irish Funds which reflect the views and input of our members and working groups, who share a common goal of ensuring Ireland remains at the forefront of the global financial industry and that Irish citizens have better opportunities to invest in capital markets.
We welcome the report’s recommendations aimed at strengthening Ireland’s ability to meet the evolving needs of investors across all asset types and structures, including private assets and ETFs. The true measure of success will lie in the agile, timely, and effective implementation of these recommendations, ensuring Ireland remains globally competitive. We remain committed to collaborating with policymakers, regulators, and our members to deliver these necessary developments, benefiting investors, the industry, and the broader Irish economy.
Indecon Assessment of Economic Impact of the Industry on the Irish Economy
The investment funds and asset management industry employs a wide range of highly skilled individuals in Ireland who provide specialist services to enable the establishment, sale, administration and oversight of funds (both Irish and non-Irish domiciled). At the end of 2023, 19,500 full-time equivalent (FTE) persons were directly employed in investment funds and asset management related enterprises.
