Irish Funds Submits Responses to Central Bank Consultations CP162 and CP161

Irish Funds has submitted its responses to two key Central Bank of Ireland consultations, CP162 and CP161, marking a continued commitment to shaping the evolution of Ireland’s funds and asset management sector.

CP162 – Proposed Amendments to the AIF Rulebook

The consultation on amendments to the Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) Rulebook represents a major milestone in the development of Ireland’s private assets framework. The proposals include reforms to loan origination and other Qualifying Investor Alternative Investment Fund (QIAIF) provisions.

Aligned with the EU Savings & Investment Union and the broader EU simplification agenda, the changes support timely implementation of AIFMD II and the Department of Finance’s Funds Sector 2030 recommendations. Irish Funds’ submission included targeted amendments to enhance the Central Bank’s proposals, ensuring Ireland remains at the forefront of a rapidly evolving global market.

CP161 – Proposed Amendments to UCITS Regulations and Guidance on Performance Fees

Irish Funds also responded to proposals aimed at modernising and simplifying the UCITS framework, in line with recent European developments, including the UCITS Amending Directive (2024/927).

Key proposals include alignment of performance fee guidance with ESMA standards, designed to increase consistency, reduce regulatory burden, and strengthen Ireland’s position as a leading global funds centre. Our submission offers practical refinements to ensure the framework remains competitive, future-ready, and responsive to industry needs.

These consultations mark significant steps in maintaining Ireland’s leadership in the global funds and asset management landscape. Irish Funds will continue to advocate for complementary legislative and tax measures that foster growth, innovation, and international competitiveness.
