Irish Funds Financial Sanctions Event: Exploring Evolving Regulatory Landscape and Compliance Challenges
Wednesday, 20 May 2026
Irish Funds was pleased to welcome members to our Financial Sanctions event, organised by our AML Specialist Group, bringing together industry professionals and regulators to discuss the increasingly complex global sanctions landscape.
Against a backdrop of heightened geopolitical uncertainty, the session examined recent regulatory developments, practical compliance challenges, and emerging expectations for firms operating under financial sanctions obligations.
We were joined by representatives from the Central Bank of Ireland, who shared valuable insights on supervisory priorities for the funds sector, the Central Bank’s role in financial sanctions oversight, and key learnings from recent supervisory engagements.
Opening remarks were delivered by Tony Cahalan and Vivian Meacham, who highlighted current regulatory focus areas and the evolving risk environment.
A panel discussion titled “Evolving Financial Sanctions, Regulatory Expectations and Real-World Impact” featured expert contributions from Vivian Meacham, Jeanette Healy, Adrian Whelan, and Laura Cullinane, and was moderated by Niclas-Andreas Mueller.
The session concluded with a networking reception, providing members with an opportunity to continue discussions and connect with peers across the industry.
We would like to thank all speakers and attendees for their contributions, the AML Specialist Group for organising a timely and insightful event, and Ocorian for hosting us.
