Irish Funds EU Affairs Update - May 2023

The European Commission recently published a legislative package aimed at refining the ecosystem for retail investors and driving their participation in capital markets.

We caught up with Irish Funds Director for EU Affairs, Umar Ahmed at our Annual Global Funds Conference on 18 May and he highlighted that retail investment is set to be a key focus for EU policy makers over the next year along with a bigger focus on digitalisation in financial services.

He also flagged how EU and global policy makers are starting to turn their attention towards macro-prudential measures for the asset management sector and the importance for Irish Funds to advocate on behalf of our members and investors in this debate.
