Ireland’s Women in Finance Charter: Call for Member Firms to Sign Up

We are delighted to announce the upcoming launch of Ireland’s Women in Finance Charter and are inviting member firms to sign up now to the Charter, ahead of the upcoming launch. Primary contacts at member firms have been contacted directly with details and the information below:

A public launch with Government and industry is planned for the end of April. Firms that sign up to the Charter will be invited to attend the public launch, with the Tánaiste and Minister Fleming.

This is a very important initiative for the industry, supported by Government, targeted at addressing the issue of gender imbalance in financial services firms. It needs strong CEO leadership to drive it and we ask your support in becoming one of the early signatories to the Charter prior to the public launch date.

Background

This Charter is a headline action in ‘Ireland for Finance 2025’, (Action 7 – Diversity and Talent), which is to launch the ‘Women in Finance Charter’ to reflect the Government’s aspiration to see gender balance at all levels across financial services firms. Under the Ireland for Finance umbrella, Department of Finance (DFIN), Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment (DETE) and Balance for Better Business (B4BB) will support the Charter in conjunction with BPFI, FSI, Insurance Ireland and Irish Funds.

BPFI, FSI, Insurance Ireland and Irish Funds have all endorsed the Charter and are committed to funding the ESRI as a data partner over a three year period with annual reports to be published in each of the years 2023/2024/2025.

Sign up to the Charter

1. Please sign a copy of the Charter and return it to WomenInFinance@irishfunds.ie.

  • Firms signing up will have to complete a baseline data template, which must be completed within a month, providing a current breakdown of employees by gender and your stretch targets to improve gender balance.

  • Each year thereafter, firms will be required to complete an annual Reporting Template, to measure progress against targets set, to be submitted to ESRI who will collate the data and produce an annual report. The first annual report will be published in Q2 2023.

2. On receipt of the signed Charter, we will respond to you with a link to the ESRI where you can access the baseline data template to complete online.

3. On completion of the signed Charter document and the provision of the completed baseline data template, a firm’s name will be added to the Charter signatory list.
