Ireland’s Tokenisation Opportunity Takes Centre Stage at Slane Castle

Ireland has a significant opportunity to help shape the infrastructure for the next generation of global financial markets, according to industry leaders who gathered at Slane Castle earlier this month to discuss the future of tokenisation.

Hosted by Irish Funds and Superteam Ireland/Solana Foundation, alongside KPMG Ireland, Northern Trust, Fidelity International, Norio Ventures and Jito Labs, the event, Ireland's Opportunity: Turning Tokenisation into Industry Infrastructure, brought together representatives from financial institutions, the Central Bank of Ireland, legal firms, fintech companies and technology innovators.

Discussions focused on how Ireland can move beyond tokenisation pilots and establish the legal, regulatory and settlement frameworks needed to support the growth of tokenised markets at scale. Participants explored several key priorities, including public-private collaboration, regulatory enablement, settlement certainty, interoperability, and the development of shared global standards and protocols.

The session formed part of a wider two-week residency at Slane Castle, which welcomed more than 80 developers, entrepreneurs and industry participants from around the world. The initiative created a unique environment for policymakers, financial institutions and technology builders to engage directly and explore practical pathways from innovation to implementation.

The discussion also highlighted the role of the Ireland for Finance Vision 2030 strategy and the Central Bank of Ireland's Discussion Paper 12 in supporting the development of Ireland's tokenisation ecosystem.

The event reinforced a shared view that, by bringing together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders and technology innovators, Ireland is well positioned to play a leading role in the development of tokenised financial markets and the modernisation of global financial infrastructure.
