London, United Kingdom, 21 November 2025 - Ireland has strengthened its position as Europe’s leading ETF domicile, according to new figures released by Irish Funds, the industry association for the Funds and Asset Management Industry, and ETFBook, the data & analytics platform focused on the ETF market. With 78% of all European ETF assets and 96% of active ETF AUM, Ireland continues to be a leading force in competitiveness and innovation in global asset management.

This announcement coincides with the 12th Annual Irish Funds UK Symposium in London on Thursday, where over 1,000 industry leaders gathered to explore the future of funds and asset management. The strong turnout underscores the deep relationship between the UK and Irish funds industries and their shared commitment to driving growth and innovation.

Discussions at the event centred on the future of funds and the forces shaping the industry - from opportunities and challenges facing asset managers to regulatory priorities focused on simplification and maintaining an open, competitive environment, while safeguarding investor protection and confidence in financial systems.

There were also robust discussions with policy makers and regulators on the need to unlock retail investment activity across Europe and how our industry can play a positive role in building the Savings and Investments Union. Conversations also explored the geopolitical and macroeconomic impacts on markets, including the evolving EU security and defence landscape. Key themes included the future of ETFs, private asset opportunities, and the transformative potential of tokenisation, and how technology - particularly artificial intelligence - is reshaping funds and investment strategies.

In addition to being the leader in ETFs, Ireland is advancing as a strategic hub for Private Assets and leading the charge on Tokenisation, offering managers a jurisdiction that combines regulatory certainty with operational flexibility. These strengths position Ireland as a future-ready location for global investment strategies.

Pat Lardner, CEO of Irish Funds, said: “Ireland’s success in ETFs is built on a foundation of trust, capability, and innovation. Holding 78% of the European ETF market and 96% of active ETF assets reflects not just scale, but the confidence global managers place in Ireland’s framework. As markets evolve, agility will be key - whether in ETFs, private assets, or tokenisation - and Ireland is committed to staying ahead by combining regulatory certainty with a culture of innovation. At this year’s Irish Funds UK Symposium, it was encouraging to hear the sheer depth and breadth of expertise across the industry, the forward-thinking mindset and outlook, and the innovative ideas shaping the direction of the industry in the years to come.”

Andrea Kelly, Chair of Irish Funds, added: “Ireland’s leadership in ETFs reflects decades of collaboration between industry and policymakers to create a trusted, efficient, and globally connected environment. As we look ahead, our focus is on enabling growth in emerging areas such as private assets and tokenisation, while continuing to deliver the scale and expertise that global managers expect from Ireland.”
