Ireland Celebrates Global Funds and Asset Management Success at Funds Europe Awards

Ireland’s strength, ambition, and achievements in the global funds and asset management industry were on full display at the Funds Europe Awards last Thursday evening in London.

The awards recognised the outstanding performance of Irish firms across multiple categories, highlighting the country’s continued leadership on the European and global stage. A full list of winners can be found here.

A standout moment of the evening was the presentation of the European Personality of the Year Award to Pat Lardner, CEO, acknowledging Ireland’s significant contribution to the industry at a European level. This accolade reflects Pat’s leadership and the collaborative efforts of the Irish funds and asset management sector in engaging with policymakers, promoting Ireland’s competitiveness, and shaping the global investment landscape.

Ireland’s funds and asset management industry continues to grow and innovate:

  • Irish-domiciled fund assets now exceed €5 trillion, with €6.7 trillion in assets managed and serviced in Ireland.

  • Ireland holds 6.5% of global investment fund assets, making it the 3rd largest centre worldwide and the 2nd largest in Europe.

  • European ETFs leadership: Three-quarters of all European ETF assets (€1.8tn) are Irish-domiciled, and 95% of new European ETF launches last year were launched in Ireland.

  • Ireland is emerging as a leading centre for Private Assets and Tokenisation, supported by its trusted regulatory framework and deep industry expertise.

  • The industry employs nearly 20,000 people nationally, contributing almost €1 billion in direct taxes to the Exchequer.

  • It generates €11.45 billion in revenue and delivers €15.4 billion in Gross Value Added, with direct employment growing 22% over five years.

The Funds Europe Awards provided an opportunity to celebrate Irish excellence and the continued impact of Ireland’s funds and asset management sector on the European and global stage.
