Become a Sponsor: Irish Funds TY Financial Literacy Programme 2024/2025

Financial literacy plays a critical role in helping our citizens make the most of their money, make informed decisions and improve their financial resilience and well-being.

A recent report by the European Union highlights that 18% of EU citizens have low levels of financial literacy. This number is even higher for women, younger people, and those with a lower income. In Ireland, a recent Department of Finance Mapping Report on the development of a Financial Literacy Strategy in Ireland highlighted about 43% of adults in Ireland do not have the minimum level of financial literacy they need. This means they may struggle with money management, debt and their long-term financial well-being. Financial education at a younger age can improve outcomes.

How to Become a Sponsor

We are accepting proposals from member firms interested in sponsoring the 2024/2025 TY Programme. Please see further details of the Sponsorship Proposal containing a template that firms must complete to register their interest ahead of the programme launch in September 2024.

Supporting Financial Literacy Education

The success of the Irish Funds Transition Year Financial Literacy Programme allows us to support the Department's priorities for financial literacy, in particular supporting financial literacy opportunities within the school curriculum. Following the programme relaunch, the course was delivered to a diverse population of over 600 students in 18 schools across 10 counties. We are looking for a member to help us support this programme growth.

Irish Funds Transition Year Financial Literacy Programme Highlights:

  • Industry-led programme uniquely developed for delivery in the classroom to TY students to understand the impact of borrowing/saving decisions on long-term financial well-being.

  • Topics covered: saving, budgeting, risk, digital financial literacy, sustainable investing, and well-being delivered through the lens of the funds and asset management industry.

  • A heightened awareness of our industry as a potential career destination.

  • Successfully piloted in 2022/23 and expanded nationally in 2023/24.

  • Deloitte sponsored the 2023/24 programme, reaching more schools and promoting financial literacy.
