Irish Funds are delighted to announce an upcoming digital seminar “Alternative asset classes – does ESG trump them all?” taking place on Thursday, 7 October @ 14:00.
This event will take place on a fully interactive online platform which facilitates 1-1 browser-based video networking alongside live and engaging content from leading industry experts.

Gary Clare B.Comm, MBS, ACMA, DFP is a leader in Accenture’s Financial Services business in Ireland. With c. 25 years Consulting experience supporting clients across UKI, Benelux and the Nordics, he worked across multiple industries before specialising in Financial Services. Gary has led the Capital Markets practice across Financial Services locally and holds responsibility for the International Financial Services sector, supporting clients’ responses to Capital Markets, Banking and Funds Regulation including across Operational and Regulatory risk. Gary has supported Irish Funds for c. 3-4 years having sat as member of the Innovation, Skills & Technology steering committee and with responsibility for firm support across Head of Operations, Talent & Skills and Fintech Working Groups.
Stephen is Managing Director of the United Nations Environment Network of Financial Centres for Sustainability based in Geneva. With 30 global financial centres as members, the initiative was founded in 2017 with the support of the Italian Presidency of the G7. Today, the network represents 80% of global equity markets.
Over his career, the highly respected Dubliner, a TCD graduate, while Special Advisor to the Secretary General of the Irish Department of Communications; Advisor to Kofi Annan’s UN technology Task Force; and founding CEO of the UN founded Global eSchools Initiative has led and delivered initiatives from start-up to scale across both public and private spheres in Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa.
Deborah is a partner and head of the Asset Management and FS Regulatory team in Eversheds Sutherland Ireland with extensive private practice and industry experience. She is recognised as a leading lawyer in Europe for Financial and Regulatory Services, by ILO/ACC and in Ireland in the Legal 500. Deborah won ‘Financial Regulation Lawyer of the Year’ at the Women in Business Law Europe Awards 2021. Deborah regulatory advocates on behalf of industry participants on regulatory matters and has contributed as a regulatory and industry professional to the ESMA and EC roundtables. Deborah is a member of the Steering Committee of the Green Team Network. As part of her industry work, she was a contributor to Ireland’s National Sustainable Finance Roadmap.
Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Deborah held the position of EMEA Head of Legal for Securities Services in Citibank. Deborah is a member of and active contributor to many industry working groups such as the Irish Funds depositary, legal and regulatory and Fintech working groups. She is also an expert on the Department of Finance 2025 Blockchain Strategy Group and a member of Blockchain Ireland’s legal and regulatory working group.
Sandra is a member of the Executive Management team. Since October 2018, she holds overall responsibility for ILIM’s Wealth and Defined Contribution Corporate Channels. She is also responsible for ILIM's ESG policy and strategy development as well as responsibility for the Client Services Teams. Prior to taking on this position, Sandra held responsibility for ILIM’s International Business and Strategic Partnerships.
Prior to joining ILIM, Sandra was Head of Financial Planning and Pensions with Ireland's leading wealth manager, responsible for the establishment and delivery of financial and investment advice to High Net Worth clients, pension funds and charities. Sandra previously worked in Mercer as an actuarial consultant, working with a range of public sector and multinational clients in relation to their pension arrangements.
She is a Council Member of SIF Ireland (part of the European Sustainable Investment Forums) and a member of the Pensions Council of Ireland. The latter was established to advise the Minister for Social Protection on matters of relevance to pensions, with a particular focus on policies to support the sustainability and adequacy of pension provision.
Andreas Hoepner is Full Professor of Operational Risk, Banking & Finance at the Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School & the Lochlann Quinn School of Business of University College Dublin (UCD). He serves on the UCD management team as Vice Principal for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and is a named supervisor for UCD's SFI Centre for Research Training in Machine Learning.
A chartered accountant and tax consultant, Laura has spent most of her career working with corporates and asset managers in renewable energy and energy efficiency finance, advising on transaction structures for fundraising and M&A transactions. She has since pivoted to focus fully on sustainable finance, a broad topic that is increasingly on the agenda of policymakers, regulators, investors and financial services firms across investment, banking and insurance. A leading expert in her field, she has in-depth knowledge of the global sustainable finance landscape, from theory to practical application.
She advises, speaks, and writes on a broad range of sustainable business and finance topics, including, ESG, EU sustainable finance policy, climate-related financial risk and opportunity, responsible investment, responsible banking and energy efficiency finance. She has a particular interest in designing solutions to leverage the power of finance and the financial sector to drive sustainable behavioural change, both for individuals and large companies alike.
Laura previously worked with KPMG, Airtricity, and Sustainable Nation Ireland.
Sean Tuffy is the Head of Market and Regulatory Intelligence for Citi’s Custody & Fund Services (CFS) business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In this capacity, Sean leads a team responsible for analyzing and articulating the impact of the global market and regulatory developments of strategic interest to CFS's clients. Based in Dublin, Sean has 20 years of experience in the cross-border fund industry. He joined Citi in 2017, prior to which he worked at Brown Brothers Harriman where he was the Head of Strategy for Europe and Asia. Additionally, Sean established and oversaw BBH's Global Regulatory Intelligence discipline, including founding the well respected "On The Regs" regulatory blog. Sean is an active participant in key industry forums. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and appears regularly in the financial press discussing the impact of global regulatory developments on the asset management industry. Sean holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Mary Washington College
Dawn is Managing Director of ELS Europe and a member of the DG-FISMA Technical Expert Group (TEG) building Europe’s first Green Sustainable Finance Taxonomy. Dawn provides strategic advice and technical expertise on international environmental risk management and sustainable finance to Clients from the financial sector, industry sector, business & innovation platforms, as well as National and European regulatory and prudential authorities. Dawn works collaboratively with Fintech industry on data analytic solutions, delivers training to Clients and has lectured at University level.
Dawn’s extensive experience is drawn from her work as an environmental engineer across a range of industries from construction & real estate, brownfield development, water treatment & supply, waste management, manufacturing, renewable energy, petrochemical, oil & gas, and transport. Dawn was awarded ‘Sustainable Finance Person of the Year’ 2019 by Ireland’s national sustainable finance, business and innovation platform Sustainable Nation Ireland.
Florian oversees the cross-border product range, from Idea Generation and Innovation, to Product Development and Implementation. Florian’s role also incorporates defining the strategic positioning and value proposition of Amundi Asset Management cross-border product offering.
Prior to this role, Florian worked as Head of Product Research & Development and Head of Product Research for Pioneer Investments. He started his career as a Product Manager for Activest in 2005. He assumed his current position in 2018.
Florian is a graduate of University of Applied Sciences Deggendorf (2005) in Business Administration - specialising in Financial Services. He is also a CFA Charterholder since 2009.
Eoin has been with KBI since 1988, and has been Chief Economist of the firm since 1990. He was also appointed Head of Responsible Investing in 2014. He is involved with various Responsible Investing organisations including the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investing (PRI), the US Social Investing Forum, SIF Ireland and CDP Ireland among others. He was appointed by the Irish Government to be a board member of Ireland’s Electricity Supply Board (ESB) in 2001 and also to be a member of the Commission on Taxation in 2008. He is a frequent contributor to Irish and international media.
Jennifer Wu is the Global Head of Sustainable Investing responsible for leading the firm-wide strategic efforts in building a global sustainable investing platform across ESG research and thought leadership, client solutions and engagement, investment stewardship and ESG integration, and development of innovative strategies.
Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, Jennifer was responsible for leading the global effort of creating innovative investment solutions and analytics at BlackRock’s Sustainable Investing team, after serving as BlackRock’s Head of Corporate Strategy & Development for Asia-Pacific. Prior to that, Jennifer worked for the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in the energy sector of the Central and West Asia Department and was responsible for project finance across power infrastructures and country-level energy sector reforms. Before ADB she served as Managing Director in the Strategic Development Group of CLSA Limited responsible for acquisitions and strategic partnerships in Asia-Pacific and Europe. Jennifer started her career in venture capital and private equity focusing on technology and renewable energy as a research analyst and subsequently a portfolio manager.
Kieran Fox joined the Association in August 2007 and is the Director - Business Development for Irish Funds. As well as being responsible for working with investment managers and developing our membership offering, Kieran participates in a number of our steering groups including Distribution, Marketing & Promotion and Front Office and has led engagement on specific regulatory matters. Kieran has a BSc Finance and holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Information Systems. Prior to joining us he gained significant experience both in industry and within the regulator. He was a senior regulator and risk specialist with the Central Bank of Ireland for almost two years and prior to this spent seven years in a variety of roles across the front office within the hedge fund industry in London. Kieran represents the Association on the Summit Finuas Network Steering Committee.
