Introducing New Professional Qualifications for the Funds Industry25 June 2015
Irish Funds are committed to the continued development of our most valuable resource – our people. Through industry specific education programmes, we are actively supporting the professional development and growth of expertise within our industry.
We are therefore delighted that commencing in September, The Institute of Banking – a recognised college of University College Dublin is launching two new qualifications in Operational and Conduct Risk and Applied Alternative Investments for the funds industry. Additionally The Professional Certificate in Investment Fund Services which has being the benchmark qualification for over a decade has been significantly refocused, updated and enhanced to reflect the many recent industry developments.
Registrations to these programmes will open at the beginning of August 2015. In the meantime, if you would like to find out more or express your interest in a programme please click on the links following the programme information below.
Further details and information on the qualifications are also available from Aoife Rooney (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Edel Hayden (email@example.com).
A unique and specific programme designed to support the industry’s day to day activities. It provides a broad view of the structure, purpose and operation of an investment fund throughout its life-cycle. It considers the working of the investment fund industry generally and in Ireland specifically. Through industry engagement, direction and feedback the programme has been significantly refocused to reflect current industry developments and practice.
Operational risk and conduct risk are big issues for financial institutions around the world. The Institute of Banking has forged a new alliance with Professional Risk Managers International Association (PRMIA), a global brand in risk management education to deliver a specific operational and conduct risk programme to the funds industry. This is a specialist risk management qualification designed in conjunction with risk experts working in the funds industry. Successful participants will be awarded the Professional Certificate in Operational Risk Management in Investment Fund Services from UCD and also the globally recognised Operational Risk Management Certificate from PRMIA.
As alternative assets and alternative investment strategies have become increasingly mainstream the industry faces the challenge of upskilling its people to meet this wave of new investment structures. The programme provides a unique opportunity to gain a post graduate qualification accredited by UCD in the area of applied alternative investments. It will advance your knowledge and understanding of valuation issues relevant to alternative investments, legal and regulatory considerations and long-term trends in the alternatives arena.
