Institute of Banking - New Professional Qualifications Launched 2019

Commencing in February in conjunction with Irish Funds, The Institute of Banking – a recognised college of University College Dublin – is launching a new level 8 qualification - The Professional Diploma in International Investment Fund Services. The programme builds on the foundation knowledge of the level 7, Professional Certificate in International Investment Funds programme, and emphasises exploring deeper the legal and regulatory framework, management, operations and risk management in investment fund services. 

The Institute recently also launched two new Culture programmes in financial services. The emphasis of these programmes is on developing an effective consumer-focused culture, including ethics, expected behaviours, conduct risk, Consumer Protection Risk Assessment (CPRA), the impact of diversity and inclusion, leadership behaviours, and managing conflicts of interest and organisational pressures.

Professional Diploma in International Investment Fund Services - NFQ Level 8

This new programme is for industry professionals with a number of years’ experience. The Diploma aims to enhance students’ knowledge and skills to deal with sectoral challenges and trends which include changes in the regulatory landscape, new product offerings, outsourcing/offshoring activity, increased automation and globalisation of fund hubs.

Professional Certificate in Complex Financial Instruments - NFQ Level 7

This is a practical based programme for understanding and providing you with a strong comprehension of derivatives. Delivered over one semester, the key objective of the programme is to simplify the most common derivatives and explain their uses in a highly practical way.

Professional Certificate in Consumer Protection Risk, Culture and Ethical Behaviour in Financial Services - NFQ Level 7

This professional certificate, which is a one-module NFQ level 7 programme, is aimed at all staff working in financial services from new entrants up to senior manager level. It has strong emphasis on conduct risk, CPRA including product design, sales process, post-sales handling and good customer outcomes, ethics, expected behaviours and the impact of diversity and inclusion.

Professional Diploma in Leading Cultural Change and Ethical Behaviour in Financial Services – NFQ level 9

This professional diploma, which is a postgraduate programme at level 9 on the NFQ, comprises three modules. It is aimed at meeting the needs of senior managers and includes leadership behaviours, approaches to ethical decision making, managing conflicts of interest and organisational pressures, instilling a culture of empowerment and accountability, the impact of cognitive bias on individual and group decisions, the impact of diversity and inclusion and decision making, and of course understanding and embedding consumer focused behaviours and conduct standards.
