How to get into the investment funds industry in Ireland

Paths into the industry

There are many paths into the investment funds industry including:

> Degree courses with finance/accounting
> Business courses
> General degree courses, i.e. Arts, and then further study opportunities through
   employer
> Post Leaving Cert (PLC) courses
> Straight from school e.g. from the Dublin Docklands Development Authority
   (DDA), 'Business in the Community in Ireland (BITCI) programme, mentoring
   programmes or local school contacts
> Work placements through schools, colleges or other educational institutions
> From other organisations within the financial services sector, for example, banks,
   insurance companies, pension providers, mortgage brokers etc.
> From other organisations from other sectors/industries
> Internal transfer in organisation from other business lines or locations

> Numerate
> Analytical
> Methodical
> Eager to learn
> Team player
> Organised/deadline efficient
> Computer literate
