Michael D'Arcy is a Fine Gael TD who currently serves as Minister of State at the department of Finance. Representing the Wexford constituency, Minister D'Arcy also served as a Senator on the Administrative panel from 2011 to 2016. Prior to his career in national politics, Minister D’Arcy was elected to the Wexford County Council, ultimately assuming the position of the council’s Vice-Chairman. He was Chairman of Co Wexford VEC and a member of the board of management of Gorey Community School and Kilmuckridge Vocational College. He is a former director of Wexford County Enterprise Board and Wexford Organization for Rural Development. Minister D’Arcy is an alumnus of University of London.
Kieran Fox joined the Association in August 2007 and is the Director - Business Development for Irish Funds. As well as being responsible for working with investment managers and developing our membership offering, Kieran participates in a number of our steering groups including Distribution, Marketing & Promotion and Front Office and has led engagement on specific regulatory matters. Kieran has a BSc Finance and holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Information Systems. Prior to joining us he gained significant experience both in industry and within the regulator. He was a senior regulator and risk specialist with the Central Bank of Ireland for almost two years and prior to this spent seven years in a variety of roles across the front office within the hedge fund industry in London. Kieran represents the Association on the Summit Finuas Network Steering Committee.
Mark Browne focuses his practice on fund advisory work, including the structuring, establishment and operation of UCITS and AIFMD compliant investment funds in Ireland. He has more than ten years of experience in the funds industry and has worked in a number of the key global centres including the Cayman Islands, Luxembourg and Dublin. This international experience is of particular assistance when advising international managers familiar with offshore structures.
Recent representations by Mr. Browne include advising a range of asset managers and service providers on the impact of the AIFMD and the establishment of new qualifying investor alternative investment funds (“QIAIFs”), as well as UCITS, and their registration for pan European distribution. Mr. Browne is a frequent author and speaker and is recommended as a leading investment funds lawyer by The Legal 500 and Chambers Europe. He is a representative of the Irish Funds Industry Association’s distributions and marketing industry working groups.
McIain has significant expertise in structuring, establishing and advising on a wide range of UCITS/AIFs including structured products, hedge funds, ETFs, loan/credit funds, real estate funds, private equity funds and infrastructure funds. Iain has also practiced in a leading international asset management and investment banking business. He Chairs the Irish Funds’ Front Office Steering Group and is a member of the Irish Funds’ ETF Working Group and Real Estate Working Group. He advises major global fund promoters and asset managers, investment banks, wealth managers, family offices, custodians and international prime brokers in connection with their Irish authorised fund activities.
Sarah leads our money market fund practice in Ireland and is responsible for the coordination of our European practice. Sarah is a member of many industry committees and regularly teaches and presents on industry related topics. Sarah joined the firm in 1998 and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland. She has over 19 years experience in the asset and wealth management industry in both audit and advisory roles and has provided services to an extensive range of global fund managers and service providers.
John Aherne is a senior associate in the Asset Management & Investment Funds Group at A&L Goodbody. John advises on the establishment, authorisation, operation and maintenance of Irish regulated funds across the UCITS and AIF product spectrum. He also advises on regulatory issues impacting asset managers more generally. Prior to joining A & L Goodbody, John was a senior counsel with HSBC Global Asset Management in London and was a senior associate in the London investment funds group of Eversheds LLP. John is a member of the Irish Funds MiFID II Working Group and the EFAMA Distribution and Investor Protection Working Group.
Dr. Patrick Schleiffer is a partner with Lenz & Staehelin and co-heads the capital markets practice group in Zurich. He is a graduate of the University of Zurich and has obtained an M.C.J. degree from the New York University. He is admitted to the Zurich and New York Bar and authorized to represent issuers before the SIX Swiss Exchange. Patrick Schleiffer is a leading expert on financial market law, particularly capital markets, stock exchange and securities law, investment fund law, financial services regulation and corporate governance. Patrick Schleiffer lectures capital markets and securities law at the University of Zurich and is a regular speaker at conferences and co-editor of the Swiss internet based newsletter "CapLaw".
Robert Jeanbart, a Swiss citizen, took charge of the business area Financial Information in 2014. Robert Jeanbart has many years of international management experience and proven expertise in various areas of the financial information business. Most recently he was Global Head of Market Data and Information Services at SunGard. His previous roles include CEO of Infotec S.A. and he worked for over 15 years at Reuters Ltd in a variety of managerial positions, most recently as the Managing Director for UK & Ireland. He studied electrical engineering at the EPFL Lausanne and holds a Master of Sciences degree.
